Mobile home fire on Dixie Rd.

Saturday, Jan. 27 at approximately 6:51 p.m., Caledon Fire & Emergency Services responded to a report of a mobile home fire on Dixie Road received from a 911 call. Prior to the arrival of the fire department the owner of the mobile home, who lives in a house on the property, used a portable fire extinguisher to control and partially extinguished the fire.

Upon arrival fire crews advanced a hose line and extinguished the fire in the kitchen area of the mobile home. The lone occupant of the mobile home sustained burns to upper parts of his body from attempting to extinguish a grease fire in a pot on the stove. He was transported to Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton by Region of Peel EMS.

The cause was deemed unsafe cooking with grease on the stove top. Damage is estimated at $5,500.

Agencies responding were Snelgrove, Cheltenham, Inglewood, Caledon East Fire stations, Peel EMS, Caledon OPP.
