Caledon novice AA Hawks bring back hardware from Montreal

The Nuforce Electrical and Ontario Flooring novice AA Hawks brought home the championship hardware from a recent Montreal tournament.
The Nuforce Electrical and Ontario Flooring Hawks recently traveled to Longueuil and along with the weather, took the area by storm.

Hawks blank Toronto

Game one had the Hawks facing off against a Toronto team from Avenue Road. Little time was wasted in establishing their strong skating game and solid defense, as the Hawks skated to a 6-0 shutout.

Mathew D'urzo led the charge with his first hat trick, and Nicholas Biamonte won game MVP for his stellar work between the pipes. Brody McLean found the twine on two, and Brett Murray added a single. Helpers went to Kameron Halsall, Liam Winslow, Landon Bayes, Julian Bozzo, Jacob Lapalme, and two to Franco Zuccato.

Vermont humbled

Next up was team Burlington from Vermont. It took a little see-saw action before the Hawks found their legs, but once they did the goals started coming. This time Murray had hats falling from the stands and game MVP honors with three. McLean and Mitchell Luzar added singles. Evan Barlow provided strong work in goal, as the final outcome was a 5-1 victory.

Second Vermont

team downed Game three had another Vermont team from St. Alban's offering up the Hawks a feast. Shots on goal favored the Hawks 22-8 as they posted a 6-2 drubbing. McLean led the charge with two and a helper for game mvp honors, Murray netted two and Joseph Ranieri - whose dad Paul was head cheerleader doing back flips in the hallway - also potted two.

Ducks downed in finale

With an undefeated round robin record, the Hawks waited until Sunday morning to find out that their championship opponent would be the Avenue Road Ducks.

There was nothing easy about the final as the Ducks skated hard, but the Hawks fire power eventually wore down the opposition and skated away with the trophy and a well deserved 9-4 final.

After testing a few, Winslow found the right stick and netted his own hat trick and game mvp award. The Hawks showed off a balanced attack in this one with singles going to McLean, Murray, Zuccato, Joshua Hall and Brandon Covre with a nice one timer. The coaching staff voted Murray our tourney mvp with lots of hard work and sweat. Jonathan Ferguson joined with Halsall, Lapalme, Zuccato, Bayes and Luzar in providing a wall on defence all tourney.
