CEAC engaged Caledon council more in 2006 The Caledon environmental advisory committee believed it engaged Caledon council more in 2006 than the year before. This is what John Abbott, chair of CEAC, told council at its first meeting of 2007. He said in 2005 their reports were sent to council, but he didn't perceive they engaged council. He believes that changed in 2006 because council requested staff to report back with CEAC's views. Abbott said 2006 was a busy year and reasonably successful. He added CEAC responded reasonably well on a timing basis. Three areas he talked about that CEAC contributed to in 2006 were the Town's population forecast, the Mayfield West Development Plan and the healthy horticultural landscapes bylaw. He noted not all of their recommendations were accepted for the population forecast and they're continuing to meet regarding Mayfield West. CEAC currently has 22 members but can have as many as 24, Abbott said. He added their members are well-rounded and are looking forward to 2007. Mayor Marolyn Morrison suggested CEAC have quarterly meetings with council on Wednesday nights since council normally has Wednesdays set aside for public meetings. CEAC's own monthly meetings will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 7 to 9:30 p.m. normally in the Mayfield/Palgrave rooms at the Town Hall in Caledon East. The meetings are open to the public. |
