The birth of Caledon's first baby of 2007 was an amazing and heartwarming experience for a Caledon East couple.
Ella Laird Ptacek was born Jan. 2 at 9:11 p.m. at Headwaters Health Care Centre weighing seven pounds, 14 ounces. She is the first child together for parents Jennifer Searles, 35, and Wayne Ptacek, 43.
The baby was delivered by Dr. Pratibha Vasudeva after Jennifer went through a labour of seven hours. Ella arrived six days after her due date of Dec. 27.
"She's been very good," Jennifer said. "She eats well, she sleeps well. I call her my little angel."
Wayne said Ella was a name both he and Jennifer liked. Her middle name Laird is the maiden name of Jennifer's grandmother.
Jennifer's parents are Nancy and David Searles. She has a brother Andrew Searles who's married to Magdalene and they have a son Nolan.
Wayne's parents are Shirley and Eddy Ptacek. He has a sister Debby Ryan whose children are Stacey, Todd and Scotty. Wayne also has two children from a previous marriage named Devin and Ryan.
