Blackhawks unbeaten streak continues On Nov. 4 the minor bantam Select Blackhawks opened a doubleheader against the Brampton Rockets with a 4-2 win. Harry Gaebler started the scoring from Robert Keszeg and Damian Commisso. In the second period Keszeg scored a nice goal from Vincent Minicucci. Kyle Sammut closed the period on some great playmaking from Commisso and Michael Bellisario. Third-period action resulted in Andrew Fellin adding the insurance marker from Warren Stroud. Torrey Glendinning stopped all but two shots directed his way. Hawks 4, Rockets 4 On Nov. 5 a determined Rocket team battled our Hawks to a 4-4 tie in the second game of the double header. First to find the back of the net was Keszeg on a pass from Minicucci. Period 2 action had Stroud convert a feed from Fellin into the Hawks second goal, while hard work by Gaebler found Zachary Moszynski for the Hawks third goal. Bellisario and Anthony Gasbarre controlled the play in Rocket territory and found Moszynski parked out front for the Hawks final goal. Taylor Elkins earned the tie in net. Hawks 3, Sharpshooters 1 On Nov. 11 the Hawks travelled to Brampton to do battle with the Sharpshooters. The first period ended scoreless. However the second period action saw Commisso finish off a nice pass from Bellisario to open the scoring. The hard-working trio of Bellisario, Sammut and Commisso combined again in the third when Bellisario converted a pass from Sammut into the Hawks second goal. Late in the period Fellin found the empty net for the Hawks final goal. Hawks 1, Snipers 1 Nov. 12 saw the Hawks again travelling into enemy territory as they were pitted against the Brampton Snipers that resulted in a 1-1 tie. The loan goal came from Minicucci and Bellisario. Hawks 5, Bombers 1 On Nov. 14, in a rematch against the only team to beat the Hawks this year, the Select boys showed the Brampton Bombers how the game is played with a 5-1 win. Stroud opened the scoring from Fellin and Clarke Stewart. While on the power play Justin Lollino found the net due to hard work from Moszynski and Christopher Rotondo. Shortly thereafter Sammut roofed a feed from Lollino and Moszynski for the third goal. Stroud’s unassisted goal and Keszeg’s unassisted short-handed goal finished off the Bombers. |
