Roth Hawks earn two wins

Roth Diamond Tools minor bantam AE Hawks hosted Stratford Dec. 14 at Mayfield.

The Hawks got going early when Chris Scrivo deposited a juicy rebound courtesy of J.T. Gore and Ryan Rausch at 7:07. Following this Brandon Richard tagged one with the assist from Tyler Symonds. J.T. Gore notched the third goal with help from call up Michael Bellisario. Captain Gore rounded out the first period scoring assisted by Cody Ruff and Chris Scrivo.

In the second Stratford counted their first at 11:16. This was answered by Richard from Giancarlo Cianflocca. As the second wound down Rausch pounded the one-timer home off the pass from J.T. Gore. Rausch also scored the Hawks seventh and last goal in the third from Richard and Scrivo.

Call up Harry Gaebler fit in well with the defensive core of Cody Ruff, Nolan Pearce and Tyler Symonds. Stopping 23 shots and recording his first win in his first game for the Hawks was call-up goaltender Taylor Elkins.

Caledon over Cambridge

The following evening the Hawks travelled to Cambridge to face another Hawks squad. In a fiercely contested game the Caledon crew recorded the only first period goal on the power play off a blistering point shot from Symonds assisted by Richard and Rausch.

Early in the second it was Gore striking pay dirt from Cameron Miller and Bonaldi. Gore then lit the lamp again from Bonaldi and David Rothfuchs. Cambridge responded in the third with a goal at 8:10. This was answered by Scrivo assisted by Miller and captain Gore. Cambridge scored at the three minute mark to make a game of it but Richard found the empty net from Bonaldi to make the final 5-2.

Nathan Cole had a fine game between the net turning away 30 shots.
