Third week of RIDE program held by OPP

Caledon OPP Officers responded to 20 property damage collisions and seven personal injury collisions during the week of Dec 18-25.

RIDE

As we completed the third week of the OPP Festive RIDE 2006-07 campaign, Caledon OPP detachment officers have produced the following results:

Vehicles checked at RIDE spot checks: third week, 4,518, year-to-date, 10,204

Twelve-hour driver's licence suspensions: third week 7, year-to-date, 23

Impaired driving charges: third week, 3, year-to-date, 6.

Traffic

Saturday, Dec. 23, at about 4:37 p.m., Caledon OPP and Emergency Services responded to a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Mayfield Road and Heritage Road in Caledon. A motor vehicle travelling southbound on Heritage Road and a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Mayfield Road collided within the intersection. The driver of the southbound passenger vehicle, William Arnott, 86, of Huttonville, Ontario, was transported to hospital in Georgetown and later transferred to Sunnybrook Medical Centre in critical condition. The driver of the pickup, William Croft, 56, of Orangeville, was not injured. The investigation is still on going.

Alcohol &

Driving

Sunday, Dec. 24, a traffic stop on Heart Lake Road near Mayfield Road resulted in the arrest of the driver, Nicola Tassone, 38, of Mississauga. He was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood and will appear in court Feb. 15.

Sunday, Dec. 24, a vehicle was observed travelling southbound on Queen Street in Bolton by a Caledon officer. The officer followed the vehicle into a parking lot. The driver was subsequently arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood. Tano Vicari, 21, of Caledon, will appear in court Feb. 1.

Assault

Sunday, Dec. 24, police responded to a disturbance at a Highmore Avenue residence in Bolton at about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday morning. Upon police arrival, a 35-yearold male barricaded himself in the home. OPP Emergency Response Unit and Tactical Response Unit as well as officers from Caledon Crime Unit responded to assist Caledon officers already on scene. The male surrendered to police at about 1:30 p.m. that same day and was taken to hospital for assessment. He was later charged with Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon and Forcible Confinement. A bail hearing was held Dec. 25.

Break & Enter

Friday, Dec. 22, Caledon OPP responded to a break and enter in progress reported at about 2 p.m. in the afternoon. Police arrested two parties at the Riverwood Terrace residence. Tom Kabosos, 30, of Toronto, was charged with Break & Enter, Possession of Break-in Instruments, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime-Over $5,000, Theft-Over $5,000 and Breach of Probation. Nicole Gienow, 27, of Toronto, was charged with Break & Enter, Possession of Break-in Instruments and Possession of Property

Obtained by Crime-Over $5,000. Both were held for a bail hearing Dec. 23.

Drugs

Monday, Dec. 18, a 17- year-old male student of a Caledon East high school was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana while at school. He was given a court date of Jan.23.

Sunday, Dec. 24, a traffic stop on Regional Road 50 near Downey Drive in Bolton for a Highway Traffic Act offence led to the arrest of the passenger of the vehicle. Makana Henry, 19, of Caledon, was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, and Breach of Probation x2. He was held for a bail hearing Dec. 25.

Mischief

Monday, Dec. 18, a homeowner on Coleraine Drive reports that damages were caused to their mailbox.

Saturday, Dec.23, a vehicle was reported to have been keyed while parked in a parking lot off McEwan Drive.

Saturday, Dec. 23, Christmas decorations on the lawn of a Taylorwood Avenue home were damaged sometime during the evening hours.

Saturday, Dec. 23, a Castlederg Sideroad homeowner reported his home was egged sometime last night.

Sunday, Dec. 24, a vehicle was reported damaged while left parked in a parking lot on Queen Street. The owner returned to the vehicle to find the rear quarter panel had been kicked in.

Stolen/ Recovered

Vehicles

Wednesday, Dec. 20, sometime during the night hours, a dump trailer was stolen from a location on Mississauga Road in Alton.

Theft Monday, Dec. 18, a wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on DeRose Avenue in Bolton sometime over night.

Monday, Dec. 18, sometime over the weekend, culprit(s) entered the rear yard of a Healey Road business. A padlock had been removed as well as a hole cut in the fencing. Padlocks on storage containers were also cut and the containers entered by the culprit(s). Aluminum castings were then stolen from the containers.

Monday, Dec. 18, during the night hours, three unlocked vehicles parked at an Innis Lake Road residence were entered and items taken from within include wallets, sunglasses, MP3 player, tools and a knapsack. Another three unlocked vehicles parked at a second residential driveway on Innis Lake Road were also entered. An IPOD is the only item reported stolen from that location.

Tuesday, Dec. 19, a television set was stolen from a retail business on McEwan Drive during business hours.

Tuesday, Dec. 19, a vehicle was entered while parked at a Regional Road 50 parking lot. A laptop was stolen from the vehicle.

Sunday, Dec. 24, a Christmas lawn ornament of a reindeer was reported stolen from the front lawn of a Stella Court residence in Bolton.
