Regional councillors appointed to committees

At the first regular meeting of Peel regional council for the 2006-10 term, held Dec. 14, councillors were appointed to positions of chair and vice-chair of the sections of general committee, to local boards and to special purpose bodies for the Region of Peel.

“We are providing significant representation to Peel region through these committees, boards and bodies, and look forward to building upon the work accomplished in the previous term of council,” said regional chair Emil Kolb.

The following is a list of the appointment results:

The chairs and vicechairs of general committee sections who will serve a 24-month term ending Nov. 30, 2008, or until their successors are appointed by regional council, are as follows:

Housing and Property Section, chair: Patricia Mullin, vice-chair: Paul Palleschi; Human Services Section, Chair: Annette Groves; vice-chair, Eve Adams; Management Section, chair: Gael Miles, vice-chair: Richard Whitehead; Planning Section, chair: Susan Fennell, vice-chair: Richard Paterak; Public Works Section, chair: Elaine Moore, vice-chair: Maja Prentice.

The membership of the Peel Housing Corporation board of directors include councillors Eve Adams, George Carlson, Carmen Corbasson, Frank Dale, Susan Fennell, Grant Gibson, Annette Groves, Nando Iannicca, Emil Kolb, Katie Mahoney, Sue McFadden, Gael Miles, Elaine Moore, Marolyn Morrison, Patricia Mullin, Paul Palleschi, Carolyn Parrish, Richard Paterak, Maja Prentice, Pat Saito, John Sanderson, John Sprovieri, Allan Thompson and Richard Whitehead.

Council appointees to the Advisory Working Group on Older Adults’ Housing in Peel are chair Emil Kolb and councillors Grant Gibson, Katie Mahoney, Richard Paterak and Richard Whitehead.

Membership of the Audit Subcommittee include chair Emil Kolb and councillors Carmen Corbasson, Gael Miles, Richard Paterak and Richard Whitehead.

Membership of the Emergency and Protective Services Committee includes chair Emil Kolb and councillors Eve Adams, Sue McFadden, Marolyn Morrison, Patricia Mullin, Paul Palleschi and Richard Paterak.

Members of the Grants Ad hoc Committee are chair Emil Kolb and councillors Katie Mahoney, Elaine Moore and Richard Paterak.

Serving on the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) Liaison Committee are chair Emil Kolb and councillors Susan Fennell, Hazel McCallion and Marolyn Morrison with Councillors Maja Prentice, Pat Saito and John Sanderson as alternates.

The membership of the Greenlands Securement Committee includes councillors George Carlson, Susan Fennell, Richard Paterak and Maja Prentice.

Members of the Inter- Municipal Planning Subcommittee are chair Emil Kolb and Councillors Sue McFadden, Elaine Moore, Paul Palleschi, Carolyn Parrish, Richard Paterak and John Sprovieri.

The Joint Peel-Caledon Accessibility Advisory Committee consists chair Emil Kolb and Councillors George Carlson and Richard Paterak, and City of Brampton Councillor Sandra Hames.

The Peel Agricultural Advisory Working Group consists of chair Emil Kolb and Councillors Hazel McCallion and Allan Thompson, and City of Brampton Councillor John Hutton.

Peel Police Services Board Nomination Ad Hoc Committee includes chair Emil Kolb and councillors Eve Adams, Sue McFadden, Elaine Moore, Marolyn Morrison and Maja Prentice.

Serving on the Peel Youth Violence Steering Committee are chair Emil Kolb and councillors Eve Adams, Katie Mahoney, Sue McFadden, Gael Miles, Marolyn Morrison, Carolyn Parrish and Pat Saito.

The Waste Management Subcommittee consists of chair Emil Kolb and Councillors George Carlson, Elaine Moore, Marolyn Morrison, Patricia Mullin, Richard Paterak, Maja Prentice, Pat Saito, John Sanderson, John Sprovieri and Allan Thompson.

The Chinguacousy Health Services Board includes councillor Gael Miles, who will serve for the term of Jan. 1, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2007, or until a successor is appointed by regional council.

Representatives from each area municipality will serve on the Court of Revision for the term of Dec. 14, 2006 to Nov. 30, 2010 or until their successors are appointed by regional council. They are councillors Eve Adams, Carmen Corbasson, Elaine Moore and Richard Paterak.

Six representatives - one from Caledon, one from Brampton and four from Mississauga - are appointed to the Credit Valley Conservation. They are councillors Eve Adams, Sue McFadden, Nando Iannicca, Patricia Mullin, Paul Palleschi and Allan Thompson. Brampton councillor John Hutton will serve for an additional term of Jan. 1, 2010 to Nov. 30, 2010.

Councillor Allan Thompson will serve on the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Agricultural Action Committee, with Mayor Marolyn Morrison as an alternate.

Councillor Susan Fennell is appointed to the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance.

Councillors Susan Fennell and Hazel McCallion have been recommended for appointment to the Greater Toronto Transportation Authority Board at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

The Region of Peel endorsed the nominations of Councillor Richard Paterak, and local Caledon councillors Doug Beffort and Nick deBoer for the position of Region of Peel representatives on the Niagara Escarpment Commission. The names and resumes of the nominees will be forwarded to the Province of Ontario for final appointment.

Councillors Sue McFadden, Elaine Moore and Allan Thompson have been nominated for the position of Region of Peel representatives on the Ontario Traffic Conference.

Councillor John Sanderson was appointed to the Peel Heritage Complex Advisory Board, with councillor Grant Gibson appointed as an alternate.

Chair Kolb and councillors Frank Dale and Susan Fennell were appointed to the Peel Police Services Board.

Councillors Annette Groves, Sue McFadden, Elaine Moore, Maja Prentice and Pat Saito will serve on the Peel Regional Police Internet Safety Committee.

Whitehead have been appointed to the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, along with councillor Eve Adams who will serve from Feb. 23, 2007 to Dec. 31, 2009. Councillors Eve Adams, Grant Gibson, Maja Prentice, John Sprovieri and Richard Whitehead have been appointed to the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority for an additional term of Jan. 1, 2010 to Nov. 30, 2010.

Councillor Paul Palleschi was appointed to the William Osler Health Care Centre Board of Directors for the term of Dec. 14, 2006 and ending on the date of the Health Care Centre’s AGM (scheduled for June 13, 2007).
