Staff can serve as reservists
By ALAN LICZYK

Employees of the Town of Caledon will be allowed to take unpaid leave to serve as reservists in the Canadian Forces if they so wish.

In its resolution, council recognized the valuable contribution reservists make to Canada’s defence and peacekeeper programs, their communities, educational institutions and civilian employers.

Council added there is a need today, more than ever, to encourage individuals to consider serving Canada as a member of the reserve force.

The resolution followed a presentation to council by William Coyle, vice-chairman of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (Ontario).

He said it’s a national organization and its objective is to raise awareness as to how organizations can benefit from the skills of reservists.

Mayor Marolyn Morrison told Coyle what they have done for men and women in the military is outstanding.
