GO terminal in the works for Orangeville
      Orangeville may see the train station on Townline accommodate a GO bus terminal in the near future as preliminary discussions are under way between the Town of Orangeville and GO Transit. The idea originated from a discussion among the town's Transit Optimization Committee and Ed Gill, director of operations and transportation, who pursued the idea with GO.

$1,000 for Clean Caledon
      Caledon council recently gave $1,000 from the Community Green Fund to Citizens for a Clean Caledon's working group, Help Improve Transportation In Caledon Hills. The money was used to organize a Taking Back Suburbia Tour concert in Bolton in May.

No plastics in Peel's organics recycling
      The Region of Peel launched its Organics Recycling Program in Caledon, Brampton and Mississauga April 2. The program enables all households that receive curbside waste collection services to divert household organic material, such as food waste and soiled paper products, from disposal.

Beware of crossing turtles
      MNR staff remind drivers that turtles are heading out to their nesting sites and may be crossing roads to get there. Be particularly mindful along roads that are between wetlands or cross water. Turtles are particularly vulnerable this time of year as the females search for areas where they can lay their eggs.

Industry leaders of show jumping gather at 10th Tournament of Champions
      North America's top show jumping riders will make this year's 10th anniversary Tournament of Champions, Sept. 20-23, a spectator's delight. World Cup champions and Olympians will turn the spotlight on the Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave for the richest outdoor show jumping event in eastern Canada.

World Cup series begins in Blainville
      The 2007 Canadian World Cup League opened July 8 at the CSI-W Blainville Jumping International in Blainville, QC. Darrin Dlin, an Alberta native who currently resides in Wellington, FL, took an early lead in the Canadian League standings after jumping double clear in a lightening fast time to win the $70,000 Grand Prix Jumping du Quebec World Cup Qualifier.

Speeder nabbed for 100 kilometres over limit
      Caledon OPP officers responded to 11 property damage and two personal injury collisions during the week of July 9-15. High Miler of the Week - 100 km Over Sunday, July 15, at roughly 11:30 p.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Airport Road near Mayfield Road in Caledon.

Caledon man charged in robberies
      The York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit is thanking the public for their assistance in identifying the suspect involved in a series of robberies at a gas station in the City of Vaughan and to advise they arrested a 25- year-old Caledon man.

West Nile virus update in Peel
      To date, 162 mosquito batches have been tested for West Nile virus and all were negative for the virus. A total of 23 dead crows and blue jays have been reported and those specimens suitable for testing were sent to the laboratory and all tested negative.

Volunteers sought for Rapport Youth
      Rapport Youth & Family Services is a non-profit social service organization that provides counselling and related support services to troubled youth. They are currently recruiting volunteers who wish to provide leadership at the board of directors level. Applicants should live or work in Peel, and be available for approximately 3-4 hours per month.
