Businesses rally to share the spirit

2006 Caledon Business Challenge Partners rallied to support the Santa Fund! Shown (l to r) are Lori Pirroncello (CCS Crisis Support Worker), Debbie Malevris, Priscilla Atienza of SEWS Canada, Rhonda Seed of H.B. Fenn and Isolde Boetgger of Silcotech North America. Absent were Silvia Gasbarra of Avenue Building Corp., Janice Cameron of WSI Display Signs, Paul Boetgger and Marilyn Gerry of Technoject Machinery, and Sharon Bowker of Silcotech.
Silcotech North America issued a challenge to Caledon businesses to get their workplaces involved to raise muchneeded funds, food and children’s gifts for the 200 needy families in the community. The challenge extended to workplaces to benefit Caledon Community Services (CCS) and their annual Santa Fund Drive.

This year, Cavalier Transportation Services, WSI Display Signs, H.B. Fenn, SEWS Canada, Avenue Building Corp. and Technoject Machinery joined once again in collecting food and cash. These donations are used not only to sustain the families through the holidays, but throughout the balance of the year.

Isolde Boettger, vice-president and owner of the firm said: “Businesses need to be generous and thoughtful by helping our neighbours.” Boettger welcomes corporate partners to begin early in the coming year. Workplace fundraising events included Toonie Tuesdays, pizza lunches, silent auctions, draws, barbeques or Friday dress down days.

Debbie Malevris, CCS fund-raising director, is excited about the challenge. “We live in a community that cares about its own and the support of local corporate partners ensures that spirit will continue. At CCS, the business community’s support is invaluable to us, it says a lot about where we live and work. Call us to learn more about how helping the community translates into a great community investment!”
