Traffic stops lead to impaired driving charges

Caledon OPP officers responded to 42 property damages and eight personal injury collisions during the week of Dec. 4-10.

High Miler

of the Week

Monday, Dec. 4, at approximately 12:33 p.m. a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed southbound on Mount Hope Road near Castlederg Sideroad in Caledon. Twenty-four-yearold Daniel Santilli of Woodbridge was charged with Speeding-129 km-h in a 60 km-h posted zone. Court date has been set for Jan. 18.

Collision

Thursday, Dec. 7 at approximately 5:45 a.m., a tractor-trailer dump truck drove off the roadway and

into a ditch on King Road between Torbram Road and Bramalea Road. King Road had to be closed down for a large part of the day for removal of the truck as well as clean up of spilled hydraulic fluid and oil.

The roadway was reopened at approximately 4:30 p.m. Police are looking for anyone who may have seen the dump truck drive off the roadway or prior to that point. Witnesses are asked to contact the investigating officer, PC H. Gastmeier at Caledon OPP, 905-584-2241.

Sunday, Dec. 10, a driver involved in a motor vehicle collision on Centreville Creek Road near Finnerty Sideroad was charged with the criminal offence of Fail to Remain at Scene of Collision. Sixty-eight-yearold Perminder Grewal of Caledon will appear in court Jan. 18, 2007.

Alcohol & Driving

Sunday, Dec. 10, a traffic stop on Queensgate Blvd. near Regional Road 50 led to the arrest of the driver. Forty-three-year-old Karen Mackie of Mississauga was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Court date has been set for Jan. 18, 2007.

Sunday, Dec. 10, 47-yearold Wesley Simpson of Caledon was charged following a traffic stop on Queensgate Blvd. near Regional Road 50. He will appear in court Jan. 18, 2007, charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood.

Sunday, Dec. 10, a vehicle stopped for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Queensgate Blvd. near Regional Road 50, resulted in a charge for the driver. Tw e n t y - o n e - y e a r- o l d Gregory Sprung of Caledon has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and will appear in court Jan. 18, 2007.

Drugs

Friday, Dec. 8, a traffic stop on King Road and Albion-Vaughan Townline resulted in charges for 48- year-old Peter Iceton of Bell Ewart, Ontario. He will appear in court Jan. 15, 2007, charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marihuana.

Friday, Dec. 8, 19-yearold Steven Phaneuf of Grey Highlands, Ontario was charged following a traffic stop on Old Baseline near Creditview Road in Caledon. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marihuana and will appear in court Jan. 17, 2007.

Saturday, Dec. 9, both driver and passenger of a vehicle were charged following a routine traffic stop on Winston Churchill Blvd. near Old School Road. The driver, 22-year-old Jason Roncato of Georgetown and passenger, 21-year-old Ryan Finn of Georgetown were both charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marihuana. Court date for both men has been set for Jan. 15, 2007.

Mischief

Sunday, Dec. 10, a homeowner on Nunnville Road reported his home was egged sometime over the previous night.

Stolen and

Recovered Vehicles

Friday, Dec. 8, a vehicle that had been stolen earlier in the day from the Orangeville area was recovered abandoned in a ditch on McLaughlin Road near King Street in Caledon. No visible damages had occurred to the vehicle.

Saturday, Dec. 9, a John Deere tractor was stolen from a property on Highpoint Road. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime in the morning hours.

Theft

Friday, Nov. 10, a snowmobile was stolen from the back of a pickup truck while parked at a Regional Road 50 location near Finnerty Sideroad.

Friday, Nov. 10, a tailgate of a pickup was stolen from its location on Innis Lake Road during the evening hours. Saturday, Nov. 11, a

rototiller was stolen from a fenced yard on Heart Lake Road.

Monday, Oct. 30, a green coloured canoe was reported stolen from a residential property on Chester Drive in Caledon Village sometime over the prior two days.

Tuesday, Oct. 31, three all-terrain vehicles were stolen from the backyard of a Ridgebank Court residence in Bolton. A lock had been broken off of a fence to gain access to the backyard. All three ATVs were located a short distance away damaged and abandoned in a ravine.

Saturday, Nov. 4, a candidate in the upcoming municipal election reported to police that approximately 20 of his campaign signs have disappeared from different locations in the Caledon area.

Thursday, Oct. 26, a window of a motor vehicle was smashed and a purse stolen from within the vehicle while left parked at a retail parking lot on McEwan Drive in Bolton.

Monday, Oct. 16, two vehicles were entered during the night hours while parked at an Old School Road residence. A back window was broken in order to gain entry to one of the two vehicles. Cash and keys have been reported stolen.

Sunday, Oct. 22, 19-yearold Manjinder Singh of Brampton was charged with Theft-Under following an investigation at a Holland Drive business. He will appear in court Nov. 30.
