Mayor's Report
Caledon reveals community pride in the holiday season
By Marolyn Morrison

The holiday season is upon us. I recently attended several holiday gatherings and with each event, I came away with great pride. Caledon is a community that truly cares.

I attended the Credit View Public School Breakfast with Santa. This event was organized to raise funds for the grade 8 school trip. When I was there, I learned that the children had been working to raise funds for a family in need. Children brought items that were raffled off and the money went to sponsor a family's Christmas. They raised enough funds to pay for everything, including toys and food.

I also attended a company Christmas gathering. There was skating for the whole

family, dinner and Santa visited the children. What a great way for the company to give back to their employees.

I attended the Kennedy Road Tabernacle Christmas spectacular. The production was phenomenal and the talent was exceptional. Why drive all the way to Toronto to see such a production when you can see something just as good, if not better, right in your own backyard? I look forward to seeing what is in store next year!

Being the mayor often means that you work irregular hours. You work late into the evening, early mornings and on the weekends. But, I can tell you that this is one of my favorite times of the year to have to work on weekends. By attending so many festive events, it is easy to get into the holiday spirit. But most importantly, it helps to remind us all the true meaning of Christmas.

So many in our community give their time and support to make the holidays a wonderful experience for all. I would like to thank those members of our community - the smiles that you have helped to create are something that you can take with you forever!
