Dorado Stars swimmers shine at home and away
22 top 8, 223 personal bests

The Dorado Stars Swim Club hosted its first invitational swim meet at the Mayfield Recreation Complex recently. Teams from Lindsay, North York, Scarborough and Orillia came to Caledon to race hard and fast against 31 local Stars swimmers.
The Stars shone brightly indeed with 132 personal best times out of 143 individual swims and 84 top 8 finishes! While half the team stayed home to compete, the other half traveled to Barrie to make waves at the 2006 Aqua Fest. Twenty-seven Caledon swimmers combined for 91 personal best times out of 114 swims and placed 38 swims in the top 8 final and an additional 42 in the consolation final. Outstanding overall results for the weekend - 223 personal best times and 122 top 8 finishes! Way to go Caledon!
Here are the Dorado Stars swimmers that placed Top 10 at the 2006 Aqua Fest Swim Meet held in Barrie.
In the girls 10 and under category, Bavindeep Basra placed 1st in the 100m individual medley, 3rd in the 50m Backstroke and 6th in the 200m freestyle.
Lauren Beals placed 5th in the 50m backstroke and 9th in the 100m breaststroke.
Irene Depacina placed 2nd in the100m breaststroke, 3rd in the 200m freestyle and 5th in the 100m butterfly.
Sienna McDougall placed 3rd in the 100m individual medley and 9th in the 200m freestyle.
In the boys 10 and under category Stefano Gardiman placed 1st in the 50m freestyle, 1st in the 200m freestyle, 1st in the 100m individual medley and 9th in the 12 and under 200m freestyle.
Aidan Zagar placed 3rd in the 50m backstroke, 3rd in the 100m breaststroke, 5th in the 100m butterfly and 5th in the 12 and under 400m IM.
In the girls 11-12 years of age category, Kristina Stojadinovic placed 1st in
the 100m butterfly and breaststroke, 3rd in the 200m backstroke and 5th in the 200m freestyle.
Leah Carriere placed 6th in the 100m breaststroke, 9th in the 200m freestyle, 7th in the 200m backstroke and 5th in the 400m individual medley.
Kaitlyn Loder placed 6th in the 400m IM, 7th in the 200m freestyle and 10th in the 100m breaststroke.
Jamie Fawcett placed 9th in the 100m breaststroke and Freya Lewis placed 10th in the 100m butterfly.
In the boys 11-12 years of age category Myles Zagar placed 1st in the 400m IM, 3rd in the 200m freestyle and 4th in the 200m backstroke.
In the girls 13-14 years of age category Alana Colgan placed 2nd in the 200m backstroke, Esther Haines placed 1st in the 400m IM, 3rd in the 200m freestyle and 2nd in the 100m breaststroke.
Hannah Cassidy placed 4th in the 100m breaststroke and Jennifer Heron placed 7th in the 200m backstroke and 10th in the 100m butterfly.
Grace Wilkinson placed 9th in the 400m IM and 10th in the 200m freestyle.
In the girls 15 and over category Paige Miller placed 1st in the 100m butterfly, 4th in the 400m IM and 7th in the 200m backstroke.
In the boys 15 and over category Mark Bechtel placed 9th in the 100m breaststroke, 10th in the 200m freestyle and 10th in the 400m IM.
Vanessa Bracaglia, Christina Caleca, Laura McGee, Sarah Gandhi and Andrea Bracaglia achieved best individual performance times.
Fall Invitational
Here are the Dorado Stars swimmers who finished Top 8 in races at their local Fall Invitational swim meet held at Mayfield Recreation Facility.
In the girls 9 and under category Brittany Macfarlane placed 1st in the 50m freestyle, 1st in the 200m freestyle, 1st in the 100m backstroke and 1st in the 50m butterfly.
Jessica Koutsomichos placed 1st in the 100m individual medley, 1st in the 100m breaststroke and 3rd in the 50m freestyle.
Julia Stojadinovic placed 1st in the 50m breaststroke, 2nd in the 100m backstroke, 3rd in the 100m freestyle and 4th in the 50m freestyle.
Lauren Homann placed 3rd in the 100m backstroke, 4th in the 100m freestyle and 7th in the 50m butterfly.
Kiara Seow placed 4th in the 100m backstroke and 6th in the 100m freestyle.
Parvir Basra of placed 5th in the 100m backstroke and 8th in the 50m butterfly.
Shannon Tran placed 6th in the 100m backstroke, 7th in the 100m freestyle and 8th in the 50m breaststroke.
Emily Herb placed 2nd in the 50m breaststroke, 5th in the 50m butterfly, 8th in the 100m freestyle and 8th in the 100m backstroke.
In the boys 9 and under category Bjorn-Ole Shrader placed 1st in the 50m butterfly, 2nd in the 100m backstroke, 3rd in the 50m breaststroke, 4th in the 100m freestyle and 5th in the 50m freestyle.
Ryan Downie placed 5th in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 50m butterfly, 7th in the 50m breaststroke and 8th in the 50m freestyle.
Connor Beals placed 3rd in the 50m butterfly, 3rd in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 50m breaststroke and 7th in the 100m freestyle. Andrew Beals placed 6th
in the 100m backstroke, 7th in the 50m butterfly and 8th in the 100m freestyle.
Gianluca Gardiman placed 4th in the 50m butterfly, 5th in the 50m breaststroke and 7th in the 100m backstroke.
In the girls 10 and 11 age category Kynyn Doughty placed 5th in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 200m freestyle and 6th in the 50m butterfly.
Rebecka Gasper placed 4th in the 100m individual medley and Jasmine Punia placed 8th in the 200m freestyle.
In the boys 10 and 11 age category Mason Kennedy placed 1st in the 50m freestyle, 1st in the 100m backstroke, 1st in the 50m butterfly and 1st in the 100m individual medley.
Tyler Macfarlane placed 1st in the 100m butterfly, 2nd in the 100m breaststroke, 2nd in the 50m backstroke and 3rd in the 200m individual medley.
Joshua De St Croix placed 2nd in the 100m butterfly, 2nd in the 100m freestyle, 2nd in the 200m individual medley and 3rd in the 50m backstroke.
Tristan Beam placed 2nd in the 50m breaststroke, 3rd in the 50m butterfly, 5th in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 100m freestyle and 7th in the 50m freestyle.
Nikolay Videnov placed 6th in the 100m backstroke, 6th in the 50m butterfly and 7th in the 50m breaststroke.
In the girls 12 and 13 age category Kathleen Horgan placed 2nd in the 100m butterfly, 2nd in the 200m freestyle, 3rd in the 100m backstroke, 5th in the 100m freestyle and 6th in the 100m breaststroke.
In the boys 12 and 13 age category Luca Rapan placed 1st in the 100m butterfly, 1st in the 100m breaststroke, 2nd in the 100m backstroke, 2nd in the 200m freestyle and 2nd in the 100m freestyle.
In the boys 14 and over age category Thomas Sleek placed 1st in the 100m freestyle, 1st in the 100m butterfly, 2nd in the 100m backstroke, 2nd in the 100m breaststroke and 2nd in the 200m individual medley. Leah Duguay, Kalee
Morgan, Darian Sibbald, Amber Timm, Abigail Duguay and Rebecca Hodge also achieved best individual performance times.
The Dorado Stars Swim Club provides appropriate competitive opportunities in the pursuit of excellence in swimming, in an environment dedicated to the promotion of sportsmanship, friendship, self-esteem and the achievement of personal goals. The Stars are also recipients of a 2006 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
