OPP Report 1-888-310-1122 Traffic Caledon OPP officers responded to 26 property damages and 11 personal injury collisions during the week of Nov. 20-26. High Miler of the Week Wednesday, Nov. 22, at approximately 2:59 p.m. a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle travelling at an extreme high rate of speed on Highway 9 near St. Andrew's Road in Caledon. Forty-three-yearold Brian Penny of Luther, Ontario was charged with Speeding-143 km-h in an 80 km-h posted zone as well as Operate Vehicle Fail to Display Device. Court date has been set for DEC. 21. Collision Saturday, Nov. 25, at approximately 7:50 p.m. Caledon OPP responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Airport Road, north of Mayfield Road in Caledon. A southbound vehicle collided with a northbound tractor-trailer. The driver of the southbound vehicle, 76-year-old Joseph Lesiak of Collingwood was airlifted to Sunnybrook Medical Centre in serious condition. The front seat passenger, 44-year-old Joseph Lamacchia of Brampton was transported by ambulance to the William Osler Hospital in Brampton and remains in stable condition. A passenger in the rear seat, 31-year-old Seprena Alton was not injured. The tractor-trailer driver, 32-year-old Balraj Grewal of Brampton was also not injured. No charges have been laid at this time, however, Caledon OPP and OPP Highway Safety Division's Technical Traffic Collision investigators are continuing their investigation. Alcohol & Driving Monday, Nov. 20, officers who responded to a single motor vehicle into a guardrail on Regional Road 50, north of Birch Avenue in Palgrave charged the driver. F i f t y - s e v e n - y e a r - o l d Ramiah Krishnan of Mississauga was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He will appear in court Jan. 4. Friday, Nov. 24, a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Highway 9 near Mountainview Road resulted in criminal charges for 22-year-old Lindsay Giffen of Caledon. She was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor. She will appear in court Dec. 21. Saturday, Nov. 25, a traffic stop on Regional Road 50 near Mayfield Road for a Highway Traffic Act offence resulted in several charges for the driver. Twenty-six year old, Claudia Scavuzzo of Thornhill was charged with Impaired Driving, Failure to Provide a Breath Sample, Assault a Police Officer, Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and Speeding. She will appear in court Dec. 28. Sunday, Nov. 26, as a result of a motor vehicle collision on Kennedy Road near King Street, 25-year-old Ryan Burton of Caledon was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Court date has been set for Dec. 21. Sunday, Nov. 26, a Caledon officer following a vehicle westbound on Mayfield Road, east of Highway 10 at approximately 8:20 p.m. observed the vehicle being driven erratically. The officer activated the cruiser's emergency lights and siren to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle did not stop but accelerated away at a high rate of speed southbound on Highway 10. The vehicle made a left turn on to Wanless Drive and while doing so collided with another vehicle but did not stop. The vehicle hit a level railway crossing at high speed causing damages to the vehicle, which brought it to a stop. The driver was arrested and subsequently charged with Flight from Police, Fail to Remain at Collision, Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Twenty-oneyear old Roberto Cardillo- Giuliano of Caledon will appear in court Jan. 4. Break & Enter Wednesday, Nov. 22, a Goodfellow Crescent residence was entered through the garage during the daytime hours. Beer has been reported missing. Sunday, Nov. 26, the door of an unoccupied home on Mount Pleasant was kicked open. Nothing has been reported missing. Drugs Wednesday, Nov. 22, a traffic stop for speeding on Highway 10 just north of King Road resulted in charges for both the driver and passenger of the vehicle. The driver, 32-year-old Thomas Sedmina of Scarborough was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marihuana, Operate a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Speeding and Use Plate not authorized for Vehicle. He will appear in court on 18 December 2006 in answer to the possession charge and 21 December for the traffic offences. The passenger, 56- year-old Mieczyslaw Wroblewski of Toronto was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance- Marihuana. He has been given a court date of Dec. 18. Domestic Disputes Caledon OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes between Nov. 1-4. Charges were laid in two separate Bolton incidents Nov. 3. Caledon OPP officers responded to five domestic disputes Oct. 23-28. A charge was laid Oct. 23 in Caledon East. Caledon OPP officers responded to seven domestic disputes between Oct. 16 and 22. Charges were laid in Bolton Oct. 22. Officers responded to eight domestic disputes between Oct. 9-14. Charges were laid in Caledon Oct. 9 and 14 and in Palgrave Oct. 10. |
