Cavalier minor atom Hawks continue their winning ways

The Cavalier Minor atom AE Hawks played four games in a week and came away with three wins and one loss.

Their first opponent Oakville, proved to be a great test for a flat Hawks team. Oakville came away with a lopsided win.

Caledon 7,

Orangeville 4

The Hawks had a few days to recover before facing the Orangeville Flyers. The Hawks woes continued as the Flyers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Picking up their game in the second, the Hawks' Daniel Fusco found the back of the net with assists to Riley Telfer and Kyle Graham. Late in the period on a power play, Zachary Wilson gave the Hawks more hope with his first from Graham and Quinn Richardson. The Hawks entered the third down one goal but Jake Stronach tied the game early in the period with help from Carter Ledson and Marc Anthony Simonetta. The Flyers took the lead again but the Hawks did not quit.

Meanwhile Koby Stronach made a key save on a two-on-none to keep the game in reach. Ledson then took a clearing pass from J. Stronach, zoomed down the ice and tied the game. Graham put the Hawks in the lead with assists to Fusco and Callan McCorriston. The Hawks scored two more by Wilson and Kevin Pleasance, assisting on both was Steven Smythe.

The next two games were a home-and-home series against Stoney Creek.

Caledon 6,

Stoney Creek 0 At home for the first

game, the opening period proved to be an even match until a power play goal with less than 2 minutes left when Smythe scored from Sarah Power and Graham. The Hawks were on a roll and Ledson combined with Simonetta to take a 2-0 lead into the second. The second belonged to the Hawks, with four unanswered goals. Goal scorers were Richardson, Simonetta, Graham and Smythe, with assists going

to Smythe, Graham, J. Stronach, Ledson, Richardson and Pleasance. With no further scoring, the Hawks got another win and a shutout for Christian Ciraco.

Hawks 7,

Stoney Creek 1

The second game in Stoney Creek started out an even battle. The Warriors did not want to concede another game to the Hawks.

The scoring started late in the first period when Fusco banged in the puck with J. Stronach assisting.

On a power play early in the second, Pleasance and J. Stronach set up Smythe giving the Hawks a two-goal lead. Stoney Creek answered quickly with a goal to keep the game close. But Simonetta then rifled a shot short side with assists to Power and McCorriston.

Thirty seconds later, J. Stronach picked up a lost puck at his blue line and raced down the ice and made the game 4-1 Hawks. A minute later Richardson increased the lead with Fusco and Telfer assisting.

With two more goals in the third, by Wilson and Pleasance, and solid goal tending by Ciraco and K. Stronach, the Hawks left with another win.
