Santa Comes to Bolton Saturday for Annual Kinsmen Christmas Parade
The Annual Kinsmen Christmas Parade this year promises to be bigger and better than ever. The theme of this year's parade is A Dickens Christmas to take us back to simpler times when Christmas was the most important time of the year. Participants in the parade are encouraged to exercise their creativity to present their interpretations of the theme. Perhaps a reformed Scrooge will make an appearance!

As always, Kinsmen will award the best entries in the parade with cash prizes. Last year's community winner was the huge, fearful dragon float entered by Bolton's own Kindred Spirits Dragon Boat Racing Team and it will be back this year. The designer of that float, Kinsmen and dragon boater Cary Marengeur, this year turns his talents to Santa's own float and that float is shaping up to be a wonder to behold. Built by members of the Kindred Spirits, the float features a realistic, detailed Dickens neighbourhood with Santa and animated deer flying over the roof tops. Santa may just stay right here in Bolton after he lands on our parade!

Along with the floats and marchers, Kinsmen have booked five bands this year and it will take about one hour to pass any one location. The parade will make its way north along Queen Street starting at 11 a.m. beginning at Queensgate Blvd. on the South Hill, travel through town ending at Centennial Drive on the North Hill.

Groups and organizations who have not yet registered their float, band or marchers should call Caledon Community Services at 905-951-2300 immediately. For more on the event itself, contact John Stegeman at 905-857-3021.
