Viola turned in solid effort
By MARK PAVILONS

Tony Viola, who mounted a solid effort in the three-way race for regional councillor for Wards 3 & 4, worked hard to get his message across.

Viola, along with his campaign manager Rick Jessup, definitely impacted the Wards 3 & 4 race. He earned 1,083 votes in a battle that was ultimately decided by 56 votes (won by Richard Whitehead).

He said he thought he did everything possible to bring about change in Caledon. He admitted political candidates need strong teams of volunteers to mount an effective challenge.

He's very proud of his effort and he wanted to do some good things for the community. He'll have to work harder next time.

Viola said he hopes Whitehead sticks to his promises of reduced taxation and getting the bypass built.

"I want to see a shovel in the ground for the Highway 50 bypass," Viola said, adding it was a very important election issue.

Viola will continue to serve with the Bolton Business Improvement Area (BIA) and he wants to see the new council help clean up the downtown core. He is urging Bolton merchants to take a more active role in the BIA, noting the group's elections are coming up in January.
