Forester says thanks

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my friends and supporters, and all the people that voted for me in Ward 5, Bolton. At least I was able to get some of the important issues out there for people to ponder in the future - especially tax reform - which Premier Dalton McGuinty says will be addressed in the spring! I guess there were enough candidates putting this issue before the voting public for the premier to take notice.

As well, the issue of the Oak Ridges Moraine protection and strong environmental control policies, hopefully will be addressed by council in the immediate future.

As for a new sports complex in Bolton which newly elected councillor Jason Payne stated as his major platform issue; just remember what happened with the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness. This project was built with donated money from corporate sponsors and individuals, but when it opened its doors, it was over-priced, and to this day, still costs more than facilities in neighbouring municipalities. I was a donor and a fund-raiser, but when the doors opened, I found it too expensive for my budget, so I continued to go to Vaughan. Let's hope that valuable lessons can be learned from this past venture.

Sandy Forester

P.S. It was a clean campaign, except for Election Eve when some of my signs went missing, or were knocked down on Hwy 50 and King St. locations.
