Store marks its 125th anniversary

The Caledon East and District Historical Society will present a talk on Berney's Pro Hardware, which has served the community for 125 years. George Berney, grandson of the original owner, will be on hand for the event, Nov. 29 at St. James Church, starting at 7:30 p.m.

For more than a century, residents have enjoyed the tradition of customer satisfaction and friendly service at Berney's. It was also the home of the Caledon East post office from 1907 until the 1960s. Even today, George always has time for a chat or a joke - a rare thing these days.

Come and hear the history of Berney's, the only family business still in operation in Caledon East. George will bring in some mementoes and artifacts gathered over the last 125 years that his grandfather and his father have been in business. And now, George's son, another George, is busy in the store. Visitors are sure to enjoy sharing the memories.
