Mavs ousted in semifinals

The Mayfield Lady Mavs flag football team had an amazing season reaching the semifinals despite a big turnover in players with nearly 50 per cent of the team as rookies.

The season started off strong with a win at a competitive tournament. After hosting its own tournament, the team carried on to have an undefeated regular season.

In the quarterfinals, Mayfield had home field advantage and beat Lorne Park 13-6. The Mavericks travelled to John Fraser in Mississauga for their semifinal game but lost 12-6 in the rain.

Coaches Ireland and Doughty thanked their players for their hard work all season.
