Peel launches new conservation Web site

The Region of Peel has launched a new Web site - conservationpeel.ca, to provide residents with a single location to access information about Peel's many conservation programs and services. The site also includes an easy-to-use interactive house that is filled with conservation tips for homeowners inside and outside their home.

"The goal of the Conservation Peel Web site is to make it easy for citizens to find important information relating to the Region's existing conservation initiatives," said Steve Hall, director of corporate energy management. "The site also illustrates how all conservation activities, whether it is energy consumption or water usage, are interlinked and affect each other. By using one resource wisely, a range of environmental benefits are achieved."

Conservationpeel.ca is organized into four environmental categories; earth, air, water and energy. Each category directly links the user to the related Peel conservation program. Whether it's learning how to conserve water or recycle household waste, Conservation Peel provides residents with simple, everyday steps they can take to improve their home's efficiency, reduce their utility bills and help lighten their impact on the environment.

"The Region of Peel is dedicated to preserving, protecting and enhancing the natural environment and also in assisting residents to do the same," said public works commission Mitch Zamojc. "By making efficiency activities accessible and easy, we hope to encourage residents to take appropriate action."
