Caledon Book of Greetings will be sent to troops

Paul Hong (presented Caledon's Book of Greetings, to Defence Minister Gordon O'Connor. It will be sent to our troops in Afghanistan to offer our support.
Caledon's heartfelt sentiments, in the form of our Book of Greetings, will soon make its way to our forces in Afghanistan.

Paul Hong met the Minister of National of

Defence (MND), the Honourable Gordon J. O'Connor last week and presented the book.

"He was very happy to receive the book and hear of the support that Caledon is showing our troops," Hong said.

The minister said he will ensure the book is sent over to our troops in Afghanistan.

The book is only one small part of of the efforts, Hong noted. Many area schools got involved, and so there are several books on the go. "It really does show that our community cares!" Hong stressed.

He noted he was very happy that so many people were so supportive - from the mayor, to the councillors, especially David Lyons, to the staffers, Sharon Doherty and Vicki Kidd, and the Caledon Citizen. "Everyone pulled together to make this happen. I doubt that few, if any other communities, are really doing something similar."

Hong said he knows that our troops will appreciate this small gesture. "I have friends who just returned from there, and more heading over on the next tour. Any little appreciation from home goes a long way."

The kids did a great job too and Hong said their comments were very interesting and quite moving.
