Local men win $82,679 in Pro Picks

Ryan Nyssen and Christopher MacDonald of Bolton played Pro Picks Pools for the first time together and won $82,679. Nyssen realized they had a winning ticket at roughly 6 a.m. and was quick to call MacDonald to share the good news.

Both were in a little bit of shock. "At first I thought we won $8,200, but when I realized we won $82,679, it sure woke me up," said Nyssen.

Nyssen is 26 and single. MacDonald is 18 and single. Both work in customer service at Hunter's Glen Golf Club in Kleinburg. Nyssen's plans for the money include paying some bills for now. MacDonald's plans for his share include paying for his education, investing and splurging on himself a little.

Pools is played just like informal pools that many people already enjoy, by selecting the winning teams or players from a card of participants, and those with the most correct selections win or equally share in the prize pool.

The winning Pro Picks Pools ticket was purchased at the Petro Can Vaughan on Highway 50 in Woodbridge.
