Reforest your property with seedlings

The Town of Caledon's annual tree seedling program is now under way. This annual program makes affordable native nursery stock accessible to local residents to encourage private reforestation efforts.

Presented in association with the Halton/Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship, the Town is pleased to offer a native tree seedling program to landowners interested in reforesting their properties. Native stock available this year is from local tree seed zone 34, and includes coniferous seedlings (white pine, white spruce, cedar and tamarack), deciduous saplings (sugar maple, white ash, and black cherry) and deciduous shrubs (staghorn sumac, highbush cranberry and red osier dogwood).

To participate in the program a minimum order of 50 conifer seedlings and/or 10 deciduous trees or shrubs is required. Because of the popularity of the program, orders are filled on a first-come basis. Participants are reminded to submit the appropriate payment with the application form.

Application forms will be mailed to Caledon residents during the week of Nov. 13. Forms will also be available to download from the Town's Web site at www.caledon.ca, or they may be picked up at Town Hall (6311 Old Church Road, Caledon East).
