Caledon OPP pursue stolen tractor-trailer, suspects flee Traffic Caledon OPP officers responded to 30 property damages and six personal injury collisions during the week of Oct. 23-29. Tuesday, Oct. 24, a Caledon OPP officer, while investigating a motor vehicle collision, observed another vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 10 in an erratic manner. The vehicle was observed colliding with another vehicle two times as it proceeded northbound. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver charged. Sixty-six year old, Robert Attrell of Mono, Ontario was charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and will appear in court Dec. 7. Thursday, Oct. 26, a tractor trailer attempted to make a turn at Highway 10 and Charleston Sideroad and in doing so struck a light standard, downing hydro wires. The roadways of Highway 10 between Escarpment to Beech Grove Sideroad and Charleston Sideroad between Kennedy and Willoughby were closed for approximately four hours while hydro crew repaired the damage. Fortunately, no one was injured. The tractortrailer driver, 47-year-old Lewis Rowe of Barrie was charged with the Highway Traffic Act offences of Turn Not in Safety, Fail to Surrender Inspection Report and Drive While Under Suspension. He will appear in court Nov. 23. High Miler of the Week Friday, Oct. 27, at approximately 9:33 a.m., a Caledon OPP officer observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extreme high rate of speed westbound on Highway 9 near Caledon- King Townline in Caledon. Sixteen-year-old Scott Gibsons of Alliston was been charged with Speeding- 133 km/hour in an 80 km-h posted zone. Court date for the 53-km-h over charge is set for Nov. 7. Drugs Wednesday, Oct. 25, while on foot patrol, Caledon Community Response officers (CRU) and Caledon platoon officers came upon three youth in possession of a small amount of marihuana. The youth were located in a park on Kingsview Drive in Bolton during school hours. Two 14-year-old female students and one 14-year-old male student were escorted back to the high school by police and received Police Warnings under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Truck pursued Friday, Oct. 27, a tractor trailer that had been previously reported stolen from the Brampton area approximately three weeks prior was observed on Highway 50 in Bolton. Caledon officers observed the tractortrailer southbound on Highway 50, south of the Bolton area and attempted a traffic stop. The tractor-trailer driver ignored the cruiser's emergency lights and sirens and continued southbound. Additional cruisers were dispatched to assist the officers in conducting a safe stop of the stolen tractortrailer. Due to heavy traffic and concerns for public safety, the tractor-trailer was followed and brought to a safe stop on Highway 401 near Highway 403 by Caledon and Toronto OPP cruisers. The two male suspects in the tractor-trailer fled on foot to a nearby parking lot, stole a vehicle and left the area. The investigation involving both OPP and Peel Regional Police is on going. |
