Speaker on diabetes Nov. 8

Did you know more than two million Canadians have diabetes and the number is expected to increase dramatically as the population ages? Risk factors for type 2 diabetes include being age 40 or over, being related to a person with diabetes, being Aboriginal, Hispanic, South Asian, Asian or African descent, being overweight and having had diabetes during a pregnancy.

The month of November is designated every year to raise awareness about diabetes and its growing prevalence. To support this objective, Headwaters diabetes management program has planned a free public forum for the community. The presentation is open to everyone interested in learning more about diabetes.

What's New in Diabetes? will take place Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 7-9 p.m. The speaker will be Dr. Peter Clarke, endocrinologist, Credit Valley Hospital and Headwaters Health Care Centre. It will be held at Orangeville Senior's Centre, 26 Bythia Street.
