Candidate Forester elaborates on debate comments

Thank you for providing coverage of the all-candidates' meeting Oct. 25 at the Albion Bolton Community Centre. However, this "selfproclaimed community activist" would like to clarify a few things. The article stated, "She favors longer crossings of Regional Road 50." Along with the help of Regional Councillor Groves,

I have already achieved longer pedestrian crossings in the downtown core, for about one year now. This helps to make for a more enjoyable shopping experience for pedestrians, as well as providing for safety in crossing a very busy commuter corridor going through our downtown core. This issue will be addressed with the speedy completion of BARS on the west side of town which would help to alleviate traffic congestion on Regional Road 50.

As for the paragraph "Forester said it would be wonderful if Bolton has public transit and she'd like to

explore the matter.' I elaborated here that I would like to see a Peel Regional Transit similar to what now occurs in Vaughan.

As for the problems with bored youth, I stated that right now Bolton only has the Caledon Centre for Recreation and Wellness, (whose primary objection is the selling of annual memberships to the health club); and the Albion Bolton Community Centre which has a library which is closed Sundays from mid-May to mid-October, and a single surface ice pad. And the new sports complex is slated for Caledon East! Hence sports users from the Bolton area

will have to drive 20 minutes to Caledon East for their recreational pursuits. Not the greatest achievement for TVO's Greenest Town in Ontario to put more traffic and pollution on our roads, as the majority of teenagers live in Bolton.
