Minutes later Hawk forward Luke Minatel fed a pass to streaking winger Lucas Trevisan who deked two Raiders plus the goalie to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead. After the Raiders tied the score on a pretty rush of its own, Hawk goaltender Dylan Farrow kept his team in the game after being peppered with 10 shots in the second period.

Hawks 2,

Guelph 1 In their second game the

Hawks faced the Guelph Storm, defending OMHA champions. In a penaltyfilled but exciting affair, the Hawks showed they were up to the challenge.

Hard work paid off in the second when the Hawks showed tremendous finesse on a power play. Following a dump-pass by Patrick Galvano, Trevisan stole the puck deep in the Guelph zone, circled around the Storm net and dished it to Cafagna who rifled it home to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Hawks added to their lead when Colin Pickard scored a picture-perfect power-play goal on a slapshot from the slot, assisted by Cafagna and Trevisan. Guelph finally got on the board late in the second and tried in vain to tie the game but netminder Arlen Dancziger was razor-sharp and excellent Hawk penalty killing by Lewis Gordon, Jake Mottershaw and Jake DeBiasi preserved a wellearned 2-1 victory.

Hawks 2,

Flamborough 2

The game against Flamborough Sabres proved to be a hard-fought battle. After a scoreless first period the Hawks turned up the pressure in the second outshooting the Sabres 12-2 and dominating play.

Stephen Klomp shovelled in a loose puck after Minatel and Peter Stepanis blasted shots at the Sabres' net. The Hawks built a 2-0 lead early in the third on a beautiful rush. Cafagna hit Palombi with with a slick pass up centre ice, creating a two on one with winger Trevisan, who tipped in the pass. Flamborough answered only 15 seconds later and despite a breakaway by Jake Rumboldt and several hard shots by defenceman Adam Doig, the Sabres withstood the pressure then scored with four minutes remaining to tie game.

Hawks 3,

Burlington 2

In a wild see-saw battle in Burlington, the Hawks prevailed 3-2 after jumping out to a 3-0 lead after two periods.

Pickard opened the scoring with a power play goal assisted by DeBiasi. Palombi widened the gap to 2-0 on another power-play after superb passes from Pickard and Mottershaw. After Klomp scored, assisted by Doig, it looked

like it was going to be a rout. But the Hawks let up their guard. After outshooting the Braves 10-0 in the second, they were outshot 12-3 in the third. Burlington scored two in the third but the Hawks held on for a 3-2 victory.
