Mono Road W.I. report
By Thelma Cannon

The Mono Road Women's Institute met Oct. 12 at the home of Mary Greco. Following a delicious potluck lunch we were entertained by Hazel Schofield's reading of an article about "grandma's apron" and its many and varied uses. A few of these were wiping away tears, carrying in the eggs and quick dusting when unexpected company came in the driveway.

The business meeting commenced and during the reading of the prior month's minutes mention was made of the honorarium given to the "most improved student" graduating from Caledon East Public School in June. Congratulations are extended to Katie Laird.

Four of our members are attending the annual Central Ontario Area convention, which was held in Markham.

The program this month was fund-raising by means of playing bingo. Each member bought their desired number of cards with the proceeds going to the organization. Prizes were all hand-crafted items donated by the members. Lots of fun and an easy way to increase our bank account.

The next meeting will be at noon Nov. 9 at the home of Hazel Schofield. Members are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy to be donated as a Christmas gift for a needy child as well as a photo of themselves as a small child.

Guests are always welcome and new members would be very happily accepted. Please call Jenny at 905-584-2901.
