Minister accepts offer for chat on Hwy. 10 I have recently written several articles outlining the need for some action on the completion of the Highway 10 widening through the village of Caledon. In one of the articles I invited the Honourable Donna Cansfield, Minister of Transportation to have coffee with me at Eddie Shack's in Caledon. My thinking was to have her see first-hand the need to push to have this project completed. The response I received was from an assistant who clearly outlined that the project was not in the five-year plan and not on the radar of the provincial government. I am pleased to share with you that subsequent to my articles and my invitation, I have recently received a personal telephone call from the minister. She has indicated a desire to sit down for that cup of coffee to allow me to bring her up to speed on my interpretation of the issues. We will set a date upon a review of her busy schedule and I will communicate with you my thoughts following our meeting. I give the minister full marks for following up on an issue that was not brought to her attention earlier and for taking the time to make a personal telephone contact to correct any misgivings that she was not interested. Stay tuned. The coffee pot is on! Doug Beffort Candidate for Ward 1 Area Council |
