3M all-weather paint aids road safety

Autumn is a busy time of year. Children fill sidewalks and roads, darkness falls earlier and the weather becomes more unpredictable. Early nightfall, slick road conditions and poor visibility are a fact of life for Canadians. Adjusting to these seasonal realities is vital for a successful driver.

Most drivers are not aware of the dramatic difference that darkness can make in their ability to cope even in the best driving conditions. Add rain and

you have a potentially hazardous situation. Rain can obscure vision on the road and driving at night is tough enough without losing sight of lane markings, which virtually disappear when wet.

Traffic paint is the most commonly used pavement marking in the world, it's relatively inexpensive and easy to apply, however, there are serious drawbacks. According to Susan Folkard, 3M Canada business development manager; "Conventional road marking

systems which perform well in dry weather, will when wet cause headlight illumination to scatter and ultimately cause road markings to disappear from the view of a driver."

As traditional traffic paint fades, the safety of motorists is put at risk. The new 3M All Weather Paint is different from traditional traffic paint. It is reliable and long-lasting even on the most heavily traveled roads and it consistently maintains bright, reflective qualities day and night, rain or shine. Engineered with a highbuild

resin that allows for a thicker application and dramatically increases durability and visibility, the 3M product also contains microscopic ceramic beads, which when wet reflect light back to the driver.

The safety of all motorists in our community is a shared priority. As the leaves fall, and the ground grows cold, companies like 3M Canada continue to do their part to ensure the roads are as safe as possible. Enjoy all that our seasons have to offer and drive safely.
