OPA and rezoning are approved

Immanuel Christian Reformed Church was granted an official plan amendment and rezoning for 2626 Mayfield Rd. by Caledon council recently.

The applicant would like to construct a church on the existing lot. A single family dwelling on the property will be demolished. The property is 1.54 hectares (3.8 acres).

The official plan amendment redesignates the property to institutional from agricultural area and the property will be rezoned institutional from agricultural.

Town staff commented that although OPA 179 doesn't permit new institutional uses in the prime agricultural area, this particular property is also located within the Mayfield West Community Development Plan study area which is to be developed as a residential community.
