Conifer plantation workshop set for this Saturday

Join us and discover how to achieve the best out of your conifer plantation and how to get a diverse forest started in the woodland

understory. Learn about many aspects of forest management that you can apply to your forested lands. Topics of the free workshop in Caledon to be presented include:

* Conifer plantation management.

* Thinning the plantation - a logger's perspective.

* Forest health - insects and diseases that effect conifer trees.

* Forest invaders, alien invasive plant species hurting our forests.

* Introduction to the Caring for the Moraine Project launched by the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation.

* The Woodlands Conservation Bylaw, Town of Caledon's tools to protect-from-harm the forests of Caledon.

Keep your calendars open for Saturday, Oct. 28,

between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for this workshop, for people wishing to well manage their valuable conifer plantation forests.

The half-day workshop, hosted by Halton-Peel Woodlands and Wildlife Stewardship (HPWWS), Town of Caledon, and supported by the Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation (ORMF) and the rest of the Western Headwaters Partners, will be held at the Caledon Community Complex, located at 6215 Old Church Road, Caledon East, (beside the OPP station).

There is no cost to attend but you are asked to preregister to ensure your attendance. Refreshments will be available to participants.
