Green fund allocation Caledon council recently approved the allocation of $800 from its Community Green Fund to the Belfountain public school outdoor advisory council for the Belfountain outdoor education program. The advisory council is a voluntary committee made up of the school's principal, two participating teachers, school council co-chairs and parents. It was formed to support the development of the Belfountain outdoor education program whose goal is to enhance the Ontario education curriculum by combining environmental awareness with outdoor education experiences in the Belfountain area. Two classes will be participating this year with assistance from Peel district school board field staff, environmental and outdoor consultants and community members. The overall theme is "how big is my environmental footprint." The project will include weekly visits from outdoor educators, four student field trips and the development of project materials such as field guides and journals. |
