Campaign tent was inappropriate To Gary Moore, candidate for mayor of the Town of Caledon. I had to agree with the decision of the Albion and Bolton Agricultural Society to ban political campaigning during their fall fair. You clearly understood the wishes of the fair board, since you were quoted in the article. So it was with great surprise that upon entering the fairgrounds that Saturday, I saw you and your campaign team set up, complete with tent, painted van, t-shirts and brochures. Yes, I understand you were on private property and only at the edge of the fairgrounds. You adhered to their specific request, but you certainly did not honour the spirit of it. The Agricultural Society is run entirely by volunteers. They do incredible work and contribute hundred if not thousands of hours to our community each and every year. So it was with great disappointment to see you flaunt your campaign right under their noses. In Caledon, volunteers are the backbone of the community. To see you put your political ambitions ahead of the wishes of these important individuals is quite disturbing. You did not just dishonor them, but all who serve as volunteers in our community. We need a mayor who will support and appreciate the value of the work they do, who will put the volunteer's needs ahead of their own. Mr. Moore, if this shows the level of respect you have for the wishes of the people in your community, what does it say about the type of mayor you will be? Fortunately, we have a proven choice, so my vote will go to Marolyn Morrison, and my gratitude goes to the Bolton Agricultural Society, and to all the volunteers in Caledon for making this community a better place to live, work, and play.
