Bolton, Palgrave win respective tennis playoffs

The Bolton Blasters went undefeated in the A Division of the Caledon-Dufferin Interclub Tennis League this year on their way to capturing both the regular season and playoff championships. Two teams were dominant in the A Division and B Division of the Caledon-Dufferin Interclub Tennis League this year.

The Bolton Blasters blasted their way to the top of the A Division going undefeated through the regular season with a perfect 12-0-0 record and then trounced the competition in the playoffs held at Palgrave Tennis Club recently. The Blasters finished the

regular season with 588 points, which was 43 points more than the second-place Caledon Court Jesters, and earned them the Mike Holmes Award for taking first place.

In the playoffs, Bolton continued its fabulous play, drubbing the Belfountain Beaujolais in the semifinals 50-34, followed by a 54-29 thrashing of Caledon in the final. Blasters captain Gary

The Palgrave Put-Aways won both the regular season and playoff championships in the B Division of the Caledon-Dufferin Interclub Tennis League this year. Playing for the team in the playoff final were (l to r) Rudy Dornhoff, Christina Challis, Debora Medhurst, Arliss Peart, Les Thoms, Steve Niepage, Nancy Leerentveld and Nick Leerentveld.
McCaslin assembled a powerful lineup that included 15-year-plus veterans Larry Campbell, Alan Liczyk, Bonnie Livingston and Gisela Nouisser, fifth-year team players Jeff Morris, Ion Manea and Ecaterina Manea, along with newcomers Michael Logue, Yuliana Vovk and Cheryl Robinson who were playing in their first year on the team.

The Palgrave Put-Aways also accomplished the double triumph in the B Division winning both the regular season and playoff championships.

Palgrave finished the regular season with a 12-2-0 record and 650 points, edging out the second-place Caledon East Cee Bees by four points. They also received the Mike Holmes Award for placing atop the division.

In the playoffs held at Erin Tennis Club, Palgrave crushed the Mono Centre Monsters 50-26 in the quarterfinals, then knocked out host Erin 46-34 in the semifinals and took the championship with a 45-41 victory over Inglewood in the final. Put-Aways captain Les
