Many injuries in serious collision

Caledon OPP and OPP Technical Collision Investigators are continuing their investigation of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 9, east of Mount Wolfe Road, which occurred Thursday, Oct. 5 at approximately 3:45 p.m.

A school bus was stopped on Highway 9 in the westbound lanes with overhead lights flashing. Three vehicles were in the westbound lane behind the school bus. A dump truck also traveling in the westbound lane of Highway 9 collided with the three vehicles behind the school bus before coming to a stop against the north side guardrail. The school bus was not hit and the driver and children on board at the time did not sustain any injuries.

The driver of a red Ford Focus, 52-year-old Dennis LeBlanc and passenger, 51-one year old Marilyn LeBlanc, both of Orangeville sustained serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Headwaters Hospital. A second passenger, 25-year-old Denise LeBlanc of Vancouver, British Columbia was critically injured. She was transported by ambulance to Headwaters Hospital and then air-lifted to Sunnybrook Medical Centre.

The driver of a gold Honda Accord, 55-year-old James Kennett and passenger 54-year-old Elizabeth Kennett, both of Upsala, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Headwaters Hospital. The driver of a blue Honda CR-V, 60-year-old Betty Dameron of Shelburne sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to Headwaters Hospital.

The driver of the dump truck, 34-year-old Rory Guyak of Woodbridge was not injured in the collision. He was arrested on scene and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm (x6). He was released with a court date of Nov. 9.

The investigation is continuing and any further witnesses to the collision are asked to contact the investigating officer, Constable B. Boles of Caledon OPP at 905-584-2241.
