Ward 2 regional council candidate launches Web site

With the November municipal election drawing closer, candidates across the town are ramping up their election efforts. In an effort to get his message out to as many Ward 2 residents as possible, candidate Allan Thompson launched his official campaign Web site, www.AllanForCaledon.ca.

Thompson, the current Ward 2 area councillor, and a challenger for the Ward 2 regional council seat, said communication within the Ward 2 community is a particular challenge as not all the residents are serviced by the Caledon papers.

"Although residents may subscribe to the Caledon

papers, default delivery on the outer boundary of the ward is by the Brampton, Erin or Georgetown papers. It's a challenge to get the Caledon message out to the residents who do not get the Caledon papers," Thompson noted.

But Web-based communication can help address that particular challenge.

In the last few years, the Internet has continued its explosive growth and Thompson said it was a given that the Internet should be included as an important tool in his campaign toolbox.

"The Internet is a dynamic, efficient and effective way to communicate with our residents," he said.

But despite all the positives and potential with the Internet, there is still that element of caution that should be exercised. To ensure that his site was professional and could guarantee complete security confidence for his residents, Thompson employed the services of Caledon-based TBS Design Group (www.tbsdesigns.ca), a fullservice marketing agency with a solid reputation. "You can't beat someone at their own game," said Thompson.

Web design is one of the four key areas of focus for the Bolton-area business and Thompson and his team are well pleased with their campaign Web site, designed and developed by Amanda Squire, president of TBS.

"TBS stands for 'The Best Solution,' which is simple. We focus on client success," says Squire. "We believe that each business is unique and needs specific strategies and our creative team knows that good solid design shouldn't be too clever or obvious."

Thompson's Web site is clean, easy to navigate and can download easily even for customers on dial-up connection.

Given that many constituents within his community do not have access to high-speed Internet, Thompson said this particular component was a key focus for his campaign team during the Web site's development. Squire says that at TBS design and development is specific to the audience and focused on the opportunity.

"Our philosophy is one that business must be a winwin proposition and Allan's Web site and marketing campaign proves we mean what we say," she says.

Thompson, currently serving his first term as the Ward 2 area councillor, is one of three contenders vying for the Ward 2 regional council seat, vacated by councillor David Lyons, who has announced he will not be seeking reelection.

Thompson says that if he is successful in his bid to secure the regional council seat, he makes the commitment that Web-based communication will remain a key priority and communication tool throughout his term.

On the Web site (www.AllanForCaledon.ca) constituents can find out all the latest information regarding both Thompson's campaign and the Caledon election in general, as well as being able to use online forms to communicate directly with Thompson and his team.

Thompson may also be reached at 905-873-6811 or by email at Allan@AllanForCaledon.ca.
