Registration up at Town-run camp this summer

Registrations at the Town of Caledon's summer camp increased by 10 per cent this year, the third straight year they've gone up.

In a report to Caledon council, Heather Savage, manager of specialized programs, noted there were 1,365 participants this year compared to 1,252 last year.

She told council they increased their marketing and are using the Town's Web site a lot more. There is an application form available online.

This year new camp initiatives included a "Crazy Cooking Camp" on the west side of Caledon and a camp bus serving the west side to connect with the Caledon East camp.

Caledon's commitment to diversity and inclusion allows children with all types of abilities to attend the camps. The Town's continuing partnership with Reach for the Rainbow, a province-wide program supporting the integration of children and youth in recreational programs, allows for greater opportunities for children with special needs.

Atotal of 65 spots (eight registrations per week) are reserved for individuals with special needs through the Reach for the Rainbow partnership.
