Hawks win on the road

Roth Diamond Tools minor bantam AE Hawks made the short hop to Brampton Sept. 30 for their first road game.

There was no scoring in a fast-paced first period until Cameron Miller and Christian Bonaldi combined for a tic-tac-toe passing sequence with Cam finishing with a deflection. Brampton responded with a nice goal just before the end of the frame. In the second the Hawks continued to press with J.T. Gore creating the turnover to James Harkins who fed "One Time" Ryan Rausch who planted a beauty. Then it was Nolan Pearce feeding the puck up the seam to Brandon Richard who dished a perfect pass to Giancarlo Cianflocca who found the inside of the far post. Brampton notched their second to keep it close but the Hawks marched on with James Harkins slamming in a puck with the set up from David Rothfuchs and Christian Bonaldi. Finishing the second period scoring was Giancarlo Cianflocca with another bullet helped by his buddies Christian Bonaldi and Nolan Pearce.

Early in the third James Harkins notched another marker off another great feed from Brandon Richard and Christian Bonaldi. Brampton logged the final goal with the Hawks posting a 6-3 win. Go Hawks!

Roth Diamond Tools minor bantam AE Hawks started the 2006/7 regular season in a deja vu game Sept. 28.

The two teams that faced off for the OMHA championship last spring - Caledon and Stoney Creek - squared off at Mayfield to get things going. After two quick Hawks penalties the Stoney dudes potted the first goal at 6:48.

Less than three minutes later Cam Miller started the play up ice with a long pass to Alessandro Ristucci who immediately fed Christian Bonaldi on the fly. Big number 4 cruised in and pegged the top corner evening the affair.

What followed was a very entertaining action filled game that produced no more goals. The Hawks enjoyed the advantage in shots the last two periods 25 to 12 but could not beat the Stoney Creek goaltender. In the Caledon cage Nathan Cole recorded 21 saves in the game to earn the tie. Go Hawks!
