Blackhawks stretch undefeated streak to seven The Caledon Blackhawks minor select hockey team has not lost a game in their first seven starts this season. In preparation for their big Florida tournament this November the Blackhawks have taken their game to the next level with ferocious body checking and precision passing plays. Game one was the Hawks' triumph over Oshawa 3-2. Hawk goals were scored by Michael Bellisario, Vincent Maiolino, and Damian Commisso. Game two against North Park ended in a 2-2 draw as both teams battled hard. Caledon markers were scored by Commisso with helpers to Harry Gaebler and Warren Stroud, and by Commisso by Anthony Gasbarre and Clarke Stewart. The third game of the season had the Stouffville Clippers fly into town, only to be shot down by the Blackhawk snipers 5-0. Gaebler potted the first clipper. Next to bag his bird was Maiolino with excellent spotting by Zachary Moszynski and Commisso. Stroud drilled the back of the net to put the Hawks up 3-0. Another goal by Gaebler and an insurance marker by Bellisario put the game out of reach. Goaltenders Torrey Glendinning and Taylor Elkins shared duty for the team's first shutout of the season. Game four ended in a 1 - 1 tie against the Brampton Bombers. The Hawks' lone goal was scored by Bellisario, with assists going to Stewart and Commisso. Game five was the first of a double-header against crosstown rivals the Caledon Lightning that saw the Hawks score four unanswered goals. Gaebler scored first with assists to Justin Lollino and Bellisario. Bellisario was next with Luigi Desanto assisting. Andrew Fellin potted a nice goal with Stewart earning the helper. Commisso finished the scoring with assists going to Fellin and Desanto. Glendinning played an outstanding game between the pipes and earned his first shutout. The second Lightning game ended 3-1 in favour of the Hawks. Angelo Mantini scored the Hawks' first goal from Bellisario and Lollino. Next Fellin found the back of the net with help from Robert Keszeg. The Hawks last goal was scored by Maiolino with an assist going to Stroud. Game 7 saw the boys do battle against Streetsville. Strong forechecking and superb passing plays resulted in a 5-3 win for the Hawks. Desanto opened the scoring on a nice feed from Lollino. Moszynski made it 2-0 from Commisso. Stroud was next to score from Keszeg. Commisso scored an unassisted goal to put the Hawks up 4-3. Stroud added the insurance marker on a nice feed from Stewart. |
