Top marketing award for Town's brand development

The Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) has awarded the Town of Caledon with one of its distinguished Marketing Canada Awards. The Town was recognized for the branding developed by the Economic Development & C o m m u n i c a t i o n s Department that positions Caledon as "the natural course of business."

Norm Lingard, manager of economic development & communications (ED&C), accepted the award at EDAC's 38th Annual National Conference in Thunder Bay Sept. 25. The 2006 judging panel considered a total of 236 submissions across 19 categories. The Town of Caledon won the "branding"

category, which considered the brand identity, graphic standards and the development of marketing materials to introduce or reinforce a recognizable and meaningful brand presence in the marketplace for a sector, community or region.

The EDAC awards are created to share information between municipalities across Canada to help elevate the work produced by Canadian economic development agencies.

The branding and marketing tactics employed by ED&C encourage and promote desirable growth through the attraction and expansion of businesses which maximize employment, tax assessment and land-use opportunities for the Town of Caledon. It is the goal of ED&C to create a vibrant and healthy community in which people have the opportunity to both live and work.

ED&C's branding is incorporated in a variety of communication vehicles, including the Community/Investment

Profile, corporate display, print advertisements, the quarterly newsletter, the Town's Web site, and presentation materials. Visit www.caledon.ca/business to learn more.
