Pontieri burning up the tracks in drag racing

Bolton's Tony Pontieri has been having international success in drag racing. One of the sponsors of his car is Cucci's Hair Salon in Bolton.

With a new partner, Bolton's Tony Pontieri has now become the talk of the drag racing world.

He ran in Norwalk, Ohio, Aug. 25-27 and set a new track record for International Hot Rod Association and qualified in the No. 1 spot. This news went out and he was contacted by National Hot Rod Association and was invited to race at the U.S. Nationals at Indy the following weekend which was the Labour Day event.

This is the Super Bowl of drag racing with 150,000 fans in attendance and by invitation only. He qualified in the No. 2 spot with an elapsed time of 6.04 seconds and a speed of 237 m.p.h. He went on to finish third in a field of more than 40 cars, his best finish at a National event.

Since then, he has been interviewed by ESPN, TSN, Speed, local television stations in the U.S. and called by every major racing magazine for interviews.

Pontieri will be at a local National event in Cayuga Sept. 22-24. Cucci's Hair Salon is Bolton is one of his sponsors on the car.
