Roth Hawks win exhibition

Roth Diamond Tools minor bantam AE Hawks played their first game of the season with an exhibition tilt against the Brampton Battalion A squad Sept. 6.

The fleet feet of Brampton produced the first marker at 6:23 of the first. Our Hawks replied 83 seconds later as Giancarlo Cianflocca deftly directed Cody Ruff's wicked point shop top corner. Brampton countered a second goal before the first period expired.

The second period was a battle for territory only until the final minute when James Harkins danced in and tallied the equalizer. With 6 ticks on the clock the G man notched his second of the game, unassisted.

The third period was an all-out offensive shootout. Twenty-two seconds in Brandon Richard fired a bullet off the feed from Chris Scrivo and Cianflocca. Brampton responded four minutes later. Then Richard pounded in another Hawk goal only to be answered by two successive Battalion goals to square the match. With 5:10 remaining Richard capped the natural hat trick with help from Christian Bonaldi. With the Brampton net empty Cianflocca marked his hat trick and the insurance goal with four seconds remaining.

Make the final 7-5 for Caledon as they work the rust off their game. Team fans anticipate an action packed season ahead. Go Hawks go!
