Fire destroys local house

Caledon Fire and Emergency Services reports a major house fire Sunday afternoon destroyed a home north of Bolton.

Sunday, Sept. 24 at approximately 5:48 p.m., Caledon Fire & Emergency Services was dispatched to a house fire at 7 Golfdale Crt. Upon arrival, firefighters found a working fire in a garage at the north end of the house. Additional assistance was requested.

Fire fighters completed a primary search of the residence prior to the fire extending throughout the entire attic. The roof assembly failed and collapsed into the house shortly after the search was completed. The homeowner was away at the time of the fire. There were no injuries sustained during fire operations.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage is estimated at $ 350,000.

On scene were fire crews from Palgrave, Caledon East, Bolton, Valleywood and Mono Mills fire stations, Caledon OPP, Peel Region EMS.
