Column helped make a connection
Mayor's Report
By Marolyn Morrison

November 13, the Town of Caledon will hold its municipal elections.

Many candidates have filed their intentions with our town clerk and it is wonderful to see so many with such a keen interest. It takes great

courage to put your name on a ballot and it takes even more courage to always have the best interest of the greater good in mind once elected.

Those candidates who have stepped forward have done so with the belief and integrity that they too can make Caledon the best place to live, work and raise a family. The deadline to register as a candidate with the town clerk is Sept. 29 at 5 p.m.

As the election grows near, it has been decided that this will be my final mayor's column. This decision was made in the spirit of fairness as other candidates do not have the same opportunity to consistently have their name highlighted to you, the readership.

When I was first elected as mayor, I was approached by our local papers about the possibility of writing a weekly column. This column was to be used as a tool to provide information on happenings at the Town and also to provide our residents with an insight into the role of an elected official.

It was my hope that these columns would give residents

a glimpse of the positive changes around our SERVICE community, while highlighting Caledon's amazing geography and dedicated individuals and groups that reside within. I believe that I have done just that and I would like to thank our outstanding community newspapers for affording me this opportunity. Each day as I travel around our community, residents are commenting to me

about the column. The connection that I have made through the column is truly appreciated.

I look forward to the reinstatement of the weekly columns shortly following the inauguration of the new council. Once again, thank you to the editor and staff at the Caledon Citizen for this opportunity!
