when we were young.

You praised us

when we needed praise

told us when we were wrong.

Thunderstorms and lightning too

held no fear for us

We were safe from everything

When we could see you near.

All your love and guidance

made us what we are today.

And yet we still cannot believe

that you have gone away.

Listening to the songs you sang

Brings teardrops to our eyes

We often want to talk to you

like we did not long ago.
