Paint the town orange at this year's Bolton Fall Fair
Carrot bowling, carrot basketball, a carrot top class in the baby show, carrot building competition and baby rabbits will all contribute to celebrating the carrot theme at the fair. New this year the Albion & Bolton Agricultural Society and Campbell Amusements will be opening the midway one day early. The fair will not be open Thursday evening, but the Midway will be open and ride tickets will only be $1. The gates of the fair open Friday evening at 6 p.m. and the dust will be flying at 7:30 p.m. for the demolition derby (rain or shine). Saturday morning begins with the annual fall fair parade. The parade route starts at the corner of Regional Road 50 and Queensgate and makes its way north to the fairgrounds. Opening ceremonies will begin at noon on the outdoor stage and the fair ambassador and junior fair ambassador competition will be held immediately following opening ceremonies. Entertainment you won't want to miss in the afternoon will be children's entertainer Miss Jenni and Company, magician Ben Burland, Max & Ruby Live, a milk chugging contest sponsored in part by Gaylea and Caledon Chamber of Commerce and a classic car show in co-operation with the Caledon Cruisers taking place on the grounds from noon to 5 p.m. The kiddie pedal tractor pull registration will be at 1 p.m. with the pull taking place at 2 p.m. Also new this year will be pedal carts for young and old to go for a spin at our raceway. Don't miss Dr. Bandoli who will be on the grounds during the entire weekend helping out and Jungle Jack will be back with his amazing balloon twisting. This year at the Bolton Fall Fair they will be showcasing local talent at the new stage by the food vendors. Take some time to stop and watch these rising stars! Avril Lavigne got her start singing at local fairs. Livestock shows throughout the day will be the dairy show in the arena beginning at 9:30 a.m., a Junior Farmer/4-H Co-op showmanship show, a sheep show in the arena starting at 1 p.m., a beef show starting at 2:30 p.m. followed by an open breeding heifer jackpot in the arena and a poultry show in the poultry building. Don't forget to take a stroll through the President's Building to see the entries in the home craft section. Kids, make sure to look in your fair books because there is a whole section for you to enter items in the fair. They range from baking to colouring and crafts. There are lots of great prizes to be won. So grab the crayons and glue and get creating. Look for the junior section of your fair book for all the details or visit the Web site at www.boltonfair.ca. Back by popular demand is the burn-out competition starting at 5 p.m. What's a burn-out competition you ask? Exactly what it sounds like smoking the tires off cars, trucks and motorcycles. To enter or for more information please call our fair secretary at 905-8574805. From 5:30-7:30 p.m. the fair board will again be having a beef barbeque in the Bavarian gardens. For only $5 your dinner will include roast beef, potatoes, coleslaw and a bun. Definitely worth checking out. You will still have to pay admission to the fair to attend the beef barbeque. Stick around because Edge Motorsports is bringing their amazing Freestyle Motorcross show. Riders from Canada and the U.S. will be at the fair showcasing their stunt and trick abilities as they fly through the air. On the main stage before and after the freestyle show will be a performance by a new local band named Subject to Change. The aroma of sausages and pancakes should draw crowds to the fairgrounds Sunday morning for the pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. The Community Church Service will begin at 10 a.m. on the main stage. Your church envelope will be your admission to the fair. The goat show will be starting at 11 a.m. in the arena and at the fairgrounds will be a display of active and restored tractors and implements. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. to have your tractor judged and there will be a parade of the tractors at 2:30 p.m. The baby show is back again this year with an exciting "carrot top" class. Be sure to be at the main stage at 2 p.m. to see all the beautiful babies Entertainment throughout the afternoon will be Miss Jenni and Company, magician Ben Burland and the Pet Show (main stage 1 p.m). The always entertaining cow milking competition is back again this year. Come out to see three teams battle it out to win the title of Cow Milking Competition winner 2006. You won't want to miss this. At 4 p.m. the President's Building closes its doors and on the main stage there will be a trophy presentation for winners of the weekend. At 4:30 p.m. the President's building will re-open and exhibitors can start arriving to pick up their prize-winning exhibits. That will signal an end to another eventful and exciting Bolton Fall Fair. Hopefully you make the 148th annual Bolton Fall Fair a part of your weekend activities this year. |
