Volunteer with Hospice Caledon

If you are a compassionate, emotionally centered individual who enjoys other people, you may be interested in becoming a visiting volunteer for families who are dealing with life-limiting illnesses.

Hospice Caledon is offering their 30 hour "in-home visiting volunteer" training program. This program introduces participants to many end-of-life issues like palliative care, communication with the dying and their families, spirituality, grief and bereavement, medical considerations for specific illnesses, pain management, ethics and family dynamics. The training will be offered at Hospice Caledon in the Caledon Community Services office and will run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 30, Oct. 1, 14 and 15.

Space is limited to 12 participants. They welcome all volunteer candidates but are especially in need of volunteers who speak Italian as well as males and residents of the west end of Caledon. This course is offered free of charge with a $25 materials fee. If you are interested, call Anne, 905-951-3534.
